Charles Ndayishimiye, Burundi Coffee Farmer Story

Every day when I sip on my morning cup of coffee I contemplate the journey my brew has taken before reaching my lips.

With each sip of my coffee I think of the farmer who laboured over his crop. I think of his hardships; his hopes and dreams; I think of how foreign his world is to me here in Canada.

I am humbled by him.

I am humbled by all coffee farmers; men and women; young and old for reminding me what being a part of the coffee business is truly about.

The next time you go to sip a cup of coffee, I challenge you to close your eyes and take pause- consider the farmer on the other side of the world and the incredibly journey of the beans in your cup.
